As weird as it may sound, life does not end at ESC - at least for some artists! In this section you will find new songs from ESC artists you might have forgotten about.

BRAINSTORM (LAT00)

They have represented Latvia in ESC2000 ended 3rd. BrainStorm was

the first to forget about what was called their first international triumph,

and ready to prove that there is a life even after Eurovision. They keep on touring Europe all the time. They got in touch with producer Tony Mansfield (A-ha) and they have released two cds. One of their latest singles is called Maybe, and it's been a hit even in Greece!

Constantinos (CYP96)

Costantinos has tried since 1996 to become famous and he finally did it in 1999. It was G. Theofanous who formed the first boy band in Greece called ONE. Constantinos was chosen to be the leading singer. He is not the only member of ONE with an ESC participation. There is also Phillipos who took part in the Alex Panagi team in 1995! He was playing the drums that night. The boys performed as an interval act in the Cypriot Preselection 2000. Will they represent Cyprus in ESC2002? I hope so.

The cd "Proti mou fora" have won gold status recently. The latest singles and videoclips are "Pos" and "I agalia sou" .The usual music style of G.Theofanous is here!

Well well well! I was a prophet after all. The boys will represent Cyprus on ESC.02. The composer will be the one and only George Theofanous. I will keep you posted for any news on the Cypriot entry.

The latest hit of ONE is called Moro mou (My baby) talking about a cyber meeting the boys have with their "babies" using IRC.

Dulce Pontes (POR91)

After the Eurovision Song Contest, Dulce started looking for a repertoire of her own with which she could identify. In May 1992, she released her first CD album, Lusitana, including Lusitana Paixao as the tenth track.

The CD got very good reviews. In her second CD, Lagrimas, released in 1993, she performed various old fados that had been made famous by Amalia Rodrigues. Lagrimas is one of the best selling records in Portugal to date, having reached double platinum, and has been released in several other countries with amazing success. These last years of her life have been a non stop tour, from concert to concert, from town to town, from country to country.

The song Fotia kai hioni, composed by Dulce herself, is included in the latest cd of Greek ethnic music superstar Eleftheria Arvanitaki. In this astonishing duet their voices match perfectly.

Anna Oxa (ITA89)

Anna was born in Bari to an Albanian father and Italian mother. She started her career as a punk music singer back in 1978. Since then she has released more than 20 CDS.

She has won the San Remo festival twice. The first time was back in 1989 with the duet Ti lascero (I will leave you) together with Fausto Laeli. The same year she represented Italy in the ESC with the song Avrei Voluto, another duet with Laeli. Her second victory at Sanremo came in 1999 with the song Sienza Pietta (No Mercy). Last month she took part in the San Remo Festival again with the song L'eterno movimento which came 10th, although Oxa gave a most impressive performance in her usual...unique way.

Yiannis Savidakis (CYP89)

Yiannis and Fani Polimeri represented Cyprus in 1989. Yiannis studied to be a gymnast but finally became an actor and a singer. He has released several CDs in Greece. His career really took off in 1997 with the song Deka magisses. His latest single is a dance track called Ehis ton tropo.

Vicky Leandros (LUX67 - LUX72)

Vicky is the only Greek singer that has ever won the Eurovision Song Contest. She came 4th in 1967 with the song L'amour est bleu and won in 1972 with Après Toi.

Since then she has enjoyed 30 years of success. She has sold over 40 million albums all over the world. Even though she has sung plenty of songs in Greek, most of her songs are in German. Here is a song from 1998 called Du.

Kasia Kowalska (POL96)

Kasia has already released five albums in Poland. Her latest album is called -apparently in a crisis of originality- 5 and was released in November 2000.

The track I've chosen from that CD is the fifth one (!) and is  called Nobody. It's a very peculiar rock ballad performed in a very Kasiakowalskian way.

Mariza Koch (GRE76)

She represented Greece in ESC1976 with the song Panaghia mou Panaghia mou, a song written for the Turkish invasion in Cyprus.

Mariza was always interested in the artistic value of her work. She worked with the biggest names of Greek music. She always kept a low profile and sung on concerts for charity. Last month she recorded a song called Rendez-vous stin Athina which is the first song recorded for the Olympic Games of 2004 in Athens.

Patrick Fiori (FRA93)

After his participation in ESC1993, Patrick started taking part in various television programs, trying to become famous. In 1997, he finally signed a record contract with Sony. In 1998 he took part in the musical Notre Damme. Success was unbelievable! The song Belle became a huge hit all over Europe. The funny thing is that he hasn't forgotten ESC! He performed the song Terra Umana on the French Preselection 2000. He was also the head of jury! If only he represented France once again!

Thanos Kalliris (GRE87)

In 1986, Thanos and his friend Bill Dertilis formed the group Bang. Together they represented Greece on ESC1987 with the song stop. Soon after the Contest, they decided to try their luck in the international music scene, so they started to live out of a suitcase (Munich, London, New York, Tokyo etc). Their singles You're the one and Holding my heart became dance hits in several countries and actually entered the Billboard HOT100 singles chart.

In 1992 Thanos goes solo. He has had many hits in Greece and lately he tried to become a TV presenter. His latest single is Ime Kala, a happy pop song.

Tania Tsanaklidou (GRE78)

Tania Tsanaklidou, who interpreted the song Charlie Chaplin in her  unique way back in 1978, is one of the most respected artists in Greece. Always interested in the artistic value rather than the commercial success of her work, Tania never really became a superstar. However, she has many loyal fans who have supported her during her remarkably consistent career as a singer and an actress over the last 25 years.

The first song I've chosen to upload is a brilliant ethnic ballad, Iliahtida, featured in a Greek TV series last year. The second song, Mia Agapi Mikri, is an excellent mellow-dance pop track, produced by Michalis Delta, one of the most progressive artists of Greek electronica.

Evridiki (CYP92 & 94)

Evridiki is quite popular to all ESC fans and actually, she must be an ESC-maniac herself, considering that she has represented Cyprus twice and has been a backing vocalist several other times - I can remember 1983,1986 and 1987.

She became really popular in Greece and Cyprus in the 90's. She has released a lot of albums, many of which have won gold and platinum status. All her songs are written by her talented husband, George Theofanous.

The first song I've chosen is a live performance of a 1995 song of hers, called Misise me and featuring backing vocals from Alex Panagi (CYP95&00) and Kyriakos Zymboulakis (CYP93). The second one is her latest single and is called To trito sirtari.

Both songs are excellent euroballads. I hope you like them as much as  do! I also added her brand new single Gia mena from the brand new CD called Ola dika sou.

Michalis Hadjiyannis (CYP98)

Michalis Hadjiyannis is the most popular male singer in Cyprus. He had participated in the Cypriot ESC preselections a couple of times before he was chosen to represent his country in  1998 with the song Genesis.

His career took off immediately after the contest, when Georgios Hadjinasios (composer of Mathima Solphege -GR77) chose him to sing the theme song of a popular TV series shown on Greek television. His latest cd, Parakseni Giorti, was released a few months ago and has been selling extremely well both in Cyprus and Greece. The song I've chosen from this cd is called Mono Sta Onira (Only In Dreams) and is an excellent slick pop track.

Edyta Gorniak (POL94)

I guess you probably all know about Edyta's attempt at international stardom with the English-language album she released a couple of years ago, so I have just added a beautiful ballad she's interpreted with fellow ESC-participant Metiek Szczesniak (POL99).

Keti Garbi (GRE93)

Keti started becoming famous in the early 90 and all her CD's went platinum. She owes her success to a combination of many things - a nice voice, good looks, and a very kind heart, indeed. Keti's career really took off in 1994, when she discovered songwriter Fivos, who has turned out to be an unstoppable hit-producing machine.

Her latest project is a greatest-hits compilation, which has gone triple platinum. This compilation contains seven new songs.

The first single is called To kati. It's a disco pop song that successfully represented Greece in OGAE song contest 2000, coming in fifth.

Anna Vissi (GRE80, CYP82)

You may probably know that Anna has turned into a superstar in Greece and in Cyprus.Apparently, she's envied Celine's - OK, and Lara's - success, so she's hired Cher's producers in order to launch her international career. The producers have come up with a Believe-esque song, which will be released in Europe and the US probably this summer.

Listen to the song and judge for yourself!
