One
- Gimme
The first song comes from my
neighbor country Cyprus. The group ONE is well known in Greece and so is
the composer George Theofanous (CYP92, CYP94). The song is not the best
he has ever written for the boys, but it is a strong entry and a dynamic
start for this year's ESC. Constantinos is the only contestant who has
taken part in the past, in this year's ESC. Good luck Cyprus.

Jessica Garlick - Come back
Jessica
is a Pop Idol reject and that is not such a good thing for a new
singer's bio. Despite that, Jessica has a strong voice, the backing
vocals sound great, too, and I have to admit that Come back is a
very decent song. The curse of the No2 position is a minus.

Ortega - Say a word
Very repetitive and
definitely not a fan favorite. Songs like this sometimes even win but I
don't think this is it. Can he be saved by his good looks??

Michalis Rakintzis -
S.A.G.A.P.O.
Europe, give the password or
your votes, I would say. S.A.G.A.P.O. managed to win the Greek final
over 4 or 5 songs that could have been eurohits easily. It's a pure 80's
electronic song, which is rather popular today.
Therefore, it can be a dark horse or can flop as well.

Rosa - Europe's living a
celebration (mix)
The OT was the most popular
TV show in Spain and we all expected that the Spanish entry would be
somehow spectacular. Well, ELAC is not that spectacular, it is a simple
pop song and I don't understand why all the fans are hysterical about
it. I hope it does well, Rosa is very sweet, but if it wins, I will be
happy for going in Madrid and not for the song.

Vesna
Pisarovic - Everything I want
I watched Dora 2002 and I
have to admit there were some excellent ballads in Dora that I loved.
Everything I want stood out for reasons you will see in the 25th of
May. The song is based on a very pretty girl, Doris Dragovic, with a
very sexy dance routine. The rest is down the toilet, actually, but who
cares.

Estonia
|
Sahlene -
Run away
The
only Estonian entries I like are Nagu Merelaine, Mere Lapsed and I can
stand Diamond of night. I know that ETV knows what Eurovision wants but
the 2002 entry is unbearable for me. A bad copy of the 2000 entry plus a
plagiarism of a R.Kelly song? No
thanks.

A very good effort from

for this. Is this the PUTNICI of 2002?

Sarit Hadad - Let's light a candle together
I think this would do great
in the 90's. The verses are ok, Sarit is a superstar back in Israel and
if they manage to do the candles "OLSEN" effect as they say,
they will gain some points for sure. It's very old-fashioned, is he
really the guy who wrote DIVA? Will the politics affect the voting?

Francine
Jordi - Dans le jardin
The Swiss final had a couple
of catchier songs but not material to watch out for. Francine
is lucky to have some juries on the voting procedure otherwise the song
would be a null contender for sure. In any case I think Switzerland will
join us again in 2004.

Afro-Dite - Never let it go
The Swedish entry is
dynamite, a nice club song that could be heard outside Eurovision. Nice
beat and, yes, it sounds old, but it is 100% modern as well. A good
combination I could say. The question we all ask is “can the girls
sing live”? Can they win or will their hearts go boom????

| Addicted

Laura is a lady who will
stand out for sure but the song is not as strong as the Swedish one.
Will that affect her or she can manage to do even better? Expect top
marks from Estonia and some points from the Baltic countries.

Maja Tatic - Fairytales about love
Why on earth the Bosnians
chose that old-fashioned 80's rock disco song? Hano and Putnici
were masterpieces compared to that. The singer is cool, but the song is
pure s***. Points will come from Austria, and the ex-Yug countries, but
Bosnia will fight to join us next year.

|
Sandrine Françoise - Il Faut Du Temps
Another Lara Fabian clone
from France, only this time the lyrics are somehow magic. The man who is
responsible for that is Patrick Bruel, a big star in France.
My guess is it will struggle
to win with Belgium, considering the fact it will get 12s from the
juries.

Corinna May
- I can't live without music (mix)
Corinna May finally goes
Eurovision. She tried a couple of times in the past, she was so close
but never there. This is a classic Ralph Siegel song, “winner”
written all over it. The orchestration is full and Corinna's voice is
excellent. I like that she is trying to dance, although she is blind.
This should not win, but it should gather 100 points.

Sapphire & Buket - Leylaklar Soldu Kalbinde
All the Turkish entries the
past few years have something to say. This year young Buket sings an
original ethnic tune, similar to the 2000 entry. I think it is an
original Turkish song that all Europeans will enjoy listening to. The
key of the success is definitely the performance.

I don't understand why I hate
the Maltese entries so much. They are pop childish songs, with a nice
soft melody and a dance routine. 7th wonder is no wonder to me plus the
only thing I like is the break in the end of the song. Really boring L

Oh it can get even worse. And

score with that old fashioned wanna-be US ballad. The bad thing is that
they will get some points from the Eastern countries, not as many I hope
to avoid relegation.

Samo Ljubezen
This
is definitely THE dark horse of the night. From what I have seen in the

stage, but they sure know how to be remembered. The song is great and
their voices are not too bad.

Marie N - I wanna
The next two songs
will have to give their best on stage in order to be remembered and can
be described as dark horses as well. The Latvian song is a happy tune,
which needs to focus on the singer as a one-woman show with a little
help of two male dancers.
